ABOUT OUR ROSÉ
Domaine Carneros Brut Rosé is named for Madame de la Pompadour,
Louis XV’s great paramour. It was she who introduced Sparkling wine
to the court at Versailles and is famous for having said, “Champagne is
the only wine that a woman can drink and remain beautiful.”
Traditionally, fine Rosé Sparkling wines have been made in very small
quantities – and ours is no exception. Our Brut Rosé Sparkling
showcases the fruitiness of the Pinot Noir to a greater extent than our
To capture the wine’s special fruit character, some of the Pinot Noir
juice is allowed several days’ contact with the grape skins to extract
color and flavor. We also add a very small amount of Pinot Noir wine
to further enhance the wine’s profile.
The wine’s aroma, delivered on a delicate mousse, hints at wild
strawberry, rose petal and tangerine. The palate displays raspberry,
peach cobbler and a hint of orange zest for a soft, delicate mouthfeel
and a smooth long finish. Despite its color, it is a true Brut – as dry as
our other wines. And while Domaine Carneros Brut Rosé is enjoyable
at a young age, it will also gain wonderful complexity with aging.
Classic pairings with Brut Rosé include duck and salmon, but it is also
uniquely compatible with desserts including fresh berries. The wine is
an enchanting accompaniment at weddings and romantic meals, and
delightfully served outside for summer brunch or dinner.
